“I was married for 30 years when my husband passed away. His death was one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I went through many challenges, and in the middle of that pain, I wasn’t expecting what would happen next. During his funeral service, I heard God speak to me. It was clear, unmistakable. God told me I was to go and preach—He was calling me to tell others about Him.”
The Beginning of a New Chapter
Today, Akot walks with purpose through her village—sharing the hope she’s found, especially with widows like her. In a place where witchcraft is often viewed as religion and alcohol is used to numb pain, she’s seeing transformation take root. Many are turning to Jesus. Lives are being changed.
“My vision is for widows to receive the same grace and salvation that has carried me through. I want to see them transformed—not just from religion, but into a real and living relationship with Jesus.”
The Need For Discipleship
Still, the journey isn’t without challenges. False teachers have left some disillusioned. Others struggle to let go of old ways. But she remains committed to showing what it means to follow Jesus—daily, faithfully, and with love.
“Discipleship is vital,” she says. “It’s not enough for people to just hear about Jesus—they need to be taught how to walk with Him daily.”
