What is the “Good News”? We talk about it a lot when we talk about our mission. At Petros Network, we share the Good News among unreached people groups in rural villages throughout the developing world. But what exactly is the Good News?
The Gospel and the Good News are Synonymous
First, let’s start with the word “Gospel,” what does it actually mean? The word “Gospel” comes from the Greek word εὐαγγέλιον, euangelion, which means “Good News.” In the New Testament, the Good News refers to the reality that Jesus came to earth as a human, but with the full power of God, and because of our sinful nature, Jesus, through his life, death, and resurrection, saved us from our deserved punishment—eternal separation from God.
This is the Good News. We are no longer slaves to sin, but “by his wounds, we have been healed.”
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” —1 Peter 2:24
This life-saving message is the message of salvation—the transformational news that God loves us and offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life through faith in His son. Without Jesus, we are left to our sins and set apart from God. But because of the Good News—God’s gift of grace to us, we are justified and no longer separated from God. Wow! That is Good News!
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” —1 Peter 3:23-24
The Good News is for All People Groups
In addition to hearing and accepting the Good News, we are commanded by Jesus to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:18-20). God calls us to share His message of salvation with others throughout the world. This is the Great Commission.
This is what Petros Network is all about: sharing the life-changing news of Jesus throughout the world. Our core missional conviction is to partner with indigenous leaders to plant local churches in unreached, rural villages so the Good News is proclaimed and lives are transformed.

The Good News is the Foundation of Church Planting
Petros Network equips indigenous leaders to share, show, and spread the Gospel among their people—providing spiritual and physical solutions resulting in Redemptive Lift for the entire community. The Gospel, shared by our indigenous church planters transforms hearts and lives.
Without the Gospel, There is No Redemptive Lift
Redemptive Lift occurs in previously unreached communities as hearts and lives are transformed by hearing the Good News. Redemptive Lift occurs when the Gospel comes to a village, and believers begin to live out Kingdom principles, as living proof of a loving God. As a result, life improves for the entire community, both believers and non-believers.
When people turn away from their old lives and choose to live a life devoted to God, their thoughts, actions, and motivations are transformed, and they desire to love people in a new way.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Our local church planters become effective missional change agents meeting the practical needs of their community as they declare the Gospel and display the love of Jesus to their villages. Believers and non-believers benefit from these changes and begin to see what the love of Jesus looks like in action.
