Critical Need for Bibles and Curriculum Written in Aramaic and Oromo (Oromiffa)
Church planters complete a progressive curriculum through the Leadership Institute during the first two years of their ministry launch. One of the many challenges we face in leadership and theological training is the limited resources available in the written language of our Ethiopian church planters and pastors. Amharic is the second most-spoken Semitic language in the world, after Arabic, and the official working language of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. While Oromo (Oromiffa) presently written with Latin characters, is the most commonly spoken language in the Oromia Region, it would be ideal to have Bibles and study materials written in Oromo. Oromia has a distinct national identity and they enjoy a common descent and language unique to their regional state. We have discovered theological written materials to be extremely limited and predominantly do not exist. We have found several of the Church Planters can communicate at some level with both Amharic and Oromo.
For the first time ever 10,000 copies of the Fire Bible were printed in the working language of Ethiopia, Amharic. There are several Bible translations in Amharic, however, there are not Study Bibles packed with the great theological resources as the Fire Bible. As part of our Fall 2011 training we were able to give 750 Fire Bibles to our church planters and pastors. However, churches are expanding, new church planters are stepping forward, and we are already needing several hundred more Study Bibles. If you would like to read about our fall trip click here >>
What makes the Fire Bible so special?
The Fire Bible is the name for the international language editions of the “Full Life Study Bible”, one of the few Pentecostal study Bibles in existence. Often referred to as a one-book Pentecostal library, this study Bible contains 77 theme articles, a concordance, 43 maps and charts, introductions to each book of the Bible, and Pentecostal study notes
The cost of the Fire Bible is only $25.00. For every Bible you purchase we will insert your name on a placard inside the Bible so the benefitting Pastor will know who purchased this precious gift on their behalf.
Perhaps you are not able to sponsor a church plant, but through this opportunity, you can literally “plant” a veritable theological library for every Ethiopian church planter.
