Building Today’s Leaders to Meet the Call of the Great Commission

“When God transforms the life of just one leader, that leader can transform a church. When one church is transformed, you can transform a community. And when enough churches are thriving, you can affect a region, a country, and eventually the entire world with the positive, life-changing power of Jesus Christ.”1

As the leader goes, so goes the church.  Training and development is not only very strategic, but an important part of  the sustainability of the Petros mission. Each church planter participates in 2 Church Planter’s Training Conferences each year for the 2 years of sponsorship. Expert teachers and instructors are invited from around the world to lead church planters in Holy-Spirit-driven best practices of the faith and leadership development.

In addition to the 4 Church Planting Training Conferences church planters participate in quarterly district trainings lead by Petros Network: Ethiopian Call Ministry leadership, and denominational trainings as required by their specific fellowship.   Additional leadership trainings are developed as needed to strengthen church plants and their denominations. It is important to note: our mission is to extend the Kingdom of God and strengthen the African church, not to create our own denomination.

Listed below are seven areas and teaching outcomes that we believe are fundamental to our call, and essential to the longterm  growth and health of the Ethiopian church:

  1. Bible Basics

Our preferred outcome is to train spiritual leaders who are equipped to correctly handle the Word of Truth and are ruthlessly committed to the authority of Scripture.

  2. Disciple-Making

Our preferred outcome is to clarify the pastoral calling of spiritual leaders to go into all the world and make disciples, not just win converts, and to inspire them with a compelling vision that both shepherd and sheep are at their best when making disciples who make disciples.

  3. Leadership Development

Our preferred outcome is to equip spiritual leaders with an understanding that the health of their church and its impact upon the village in which it is planted hinges on the shepherd’s effectiveness as a skillful and wise leader.

  4. Doctrine & Theology

Our preferred outcome is to call spiritual leaders to vigilant alertness to theological drift and doctrinal error by equipping them with sound doctrine.

  5. Scriptural Enrichment

Our preferred outcome is to inspire spiritual leaders through anointed Bible preaching by our teaching team.

  6. Organizational Benchmarks

Our preferred outcome is to equip spiritual leaders with a skill set for organizational management and strategic planning, and to introduce them to accountability for kingdom productiveness.

  7. Vision

Our preferred outcome is to paint the picture of our Divine mission for spiritual leaders, demonstrating how a clear and compelling vision will determine the path, set the pace, marshal the resources, produce the energy and create the accountability necessary to accomplish what God has set before us.

“The final test of a leader is that he leaves behind him in other men the conviction and the will to carry on…The genius of a good leader is to leave behind him a situation which common sense, without the grace of genius, can deal with successfully.”
